Quit the cotton October 1st

On a miserably hot day, you might want to wear some cotton – after you sweat a little or run through a sprinkler, wet cotton will do a great job of transferring extra heat out of your body.

But on a wonderfully cold day, leave the cotton in your closet. When wet, it is guaranteed to turn an otherwise lovely outdoor experience into a bunchy, clingy, clammy occasion, and you’ll be more likely to catch a cold as your body spends more energy trying to keep your core comfortable.

So check your tags and make sure there’s no cotton in your winter socks, shirts, pants, or underpants – then go have a ball outside.
