lake oswego ride

Saturday, November 26: Off We Go to Lake Oswego
Bring an empty pannier to fill with jewels – we’re headed to the mythical city of gold! Did you know it’s possible to ride a bicycle from Portland to Lake Oswego almost entirely on paved bike paths while completely avoiding busy Highway 43? This ride will follow that route to visit the Bigelow Plaza and Millennium Park holiday trees in downtown Lake Oswego.

On the way back we’ll ride by a third holiday tree – the SMILE tree overlooking Oaks Bottom in Sellwood. Highlights of the ride include the new section of the Willamette Shores Greenway, the completed Sellwood Bridge, River View Cemetery, and Tryon Creek State Park. Note that there will be hills, and the ride back will be in the dark, so bring bright lights! Round trip distance back to the SMILE tree is about 14 miles.

Meet: 3:30 p.m. at Portland Aerial Tram lower landing 3303 SW Bond Ave.
